2018 is the year that I turn 34, and while I’m 100% ok with it (honestly, I still feel like I’m 28 years old), I am really focused on stepping up and maintaining a great anti-aging skincare regimen.  Since I was little, my mom stressed the importance of taking care of my skin, using sunscreen, making sure to wash my face every night, and using moisturizers to keep my skin clean and dewy.  Now that I’m older, my skincare regimen looks different from just cleansing and moisturizing (although that’s the premise of it), and I’ve since adopted some great techniques and products thanks to some fantastic estheticians in my life (check out my long-time friend Laura Munoz’s website).

Anti-aging Skincare Regimen: Cleansing Products

Cetaphil: I have sensitive skin, so this cleanser has been recommended to me by several dermatologists as well as estheticians.  I like to use the gel formula for normal/oily skin, there’s something about a lather that makes me think my face is cleaner compared to when I use a cream cleanser. You can find this product just about anywhere, from the drugstore to the grocery store (like HEB) as well as online.

Inventive Eco-Organic Cleanser: If I want to splurge a little bit on my cleanser, then this Inventive Eco Organic Environmental Cleanser is my go-to.  It smells so good, cleanses really well, and doesn’t strip my skin yet still leaves it squeaky clean.  My friend Laura, who is an esthetician at Aloe here in Austin, apprenticed with the creator of this skincare line, and I’ve loved it for many years.

Neutrogena Makeup Removing WipesThese are fantastic to keep by your bedside in case you get home late at night and don’t want to wash your face, and I use these when I have to cleanse with my hands/fingers (more on that below), since you rarely get all makeup/grime off when washing purely with your hands. These are also great for traveling since it doesn’t contain liquid. You can throw these in your carry on, speed through security, and use them to remove makeup on long-haul flights.

Micellar WaterThis is a relatively new (at least to me) way to cleanse, and micellar water is considered to be more gentle than certain makeup removing wipes, yet still really effective.  When my face wipes dry out (it’ll happen inevitably), I’ll pour a bit of the micellar water onto my makeup removing face wipe and use that to make sure every single bit of my makeup is removed.

Anti-aging Skincare Regimen: Cleansing Tools

Clarisonic: Any battery-powered cleansing brush is better than none, yet the Clarisonic is probably the most effective (it’s the #1 cleansing device recommended by US dermatologists).  It removes up to 7x more makeup/dirt than cleansing with your hands alone, and it promotes better absorption of any anti-aging products you apply afterwards. Click here to get 25% off any Clarisonic device of your choice (pretty good deal!).

Anti-aging Skincare Regimen: Anti-aging Products

Dr. Gross Alpha Beta Peel Pads: I just started using these, and I’m starting with the formula for sensitive skin.  Dr. Gross started his career in cancer research, and he was tasked with trying to keep cells alive. He packaged everything he learned from his cancer research and created a skincare line, and became a dermatologist as well.  These Alpha Beta peel pads are gentle enough to use on a daily basis, and help keep pores clear, preventing acne and enlarged pores. Alpha and beta hydroxy acid peels—when used daily—help firm and smooth skin, thereby helping to fight the signs of aging.

Dr. Gross Ferulic + Retinol Eye Cream: This super-rich anti-aging eye cream works to eliminate the appearance of fine lines and dark circles. It’s safe to use daily both morning and night, and after several days of use, you’ll have more hydrated, visibly smooth, and youthful-looking eyes (sign me up!).

Roc Retinol Correxion Sensitive Night Cream: This night cream gently helps reduce expression lines and wrinkles while you sleep. This specific formula is designed for those with skin that is sensitive to retinol, like mine (generally people with sensitive skin).  I would suggest to try it out every other night if you do have sensitive skin, then build up to nightly.  You may notice your skin will slightly peel (which is normal–it essentially helps with cell turnover and exfoliates the skin), so make sure to also use a good moisturizer as well as sunscreen during the day.

True Botanicals Antioxidant Booster: If this product is recommended by Gwyneth Paltrow (GOOP), then it must be good (just kidding–kinda).  Anyway I’ve been adding this antioxidant powder to my serum and moisturizer combo at night, and I’ve loved it so far.  This essentially boosts any product you add it to, since it’s just an injection of additional antioxidants that help fight the free radicals that cause fine lines and wrinkles.

True Botanicals Cellular Repair Serum: I mix this serum with the True Botanicals Antioxidant Booster for a 1-2 punch. This serum revitalizes the skin from the inside out, maintains the skin’s natural moisture-retaining barrier, restores glow and plumpness, and helps to even out skin tone.

Hydropeptide PolyPeptide Collagel+ Eye pads: I just recently got these guys from Hiatus Spa in Austin, and I’m excited to try them out.  They are supposed to help reduce puffiness and fine lines for immediate and dramatic improvements in the smoothness and youthful look of the eye area. Perfect for a long flight or after a long night 😉  If you’re not in the Austin area (or near any of the Hiatus Spa locations in Austin, you can shop these babies below.

Hydropeptide 5X Power Peel Daily Resurfacing Pads I also recently got these from Hiatus Spa as well.  They are the perfect partner to any professional or at-home exfoliation routine and they can be used on their own for a gentle, yet effective, pick-me-up for instantly radiant skin. The experts at Hiatus LOVE these pads because they truly are instant brighteners for your skin!

Anti-aging Skincare Regimen: Anti-aging Tools

Glow Pro Microneedling Tool: This contraption takes microneedling from the doctor or esthetician’s office to the comfort of your own home.  It’s gentle enough to use on a daily basis, and this tool is revolutionizing anti-aging skincare regimens. It helps to improve the skin’s firmness, stimulates the skin’s natural collagen production, evens skin tone, helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles, the list goes on and on. Microneedling stimulates the skin’s natural healing response to induce micro-rejuvenation deep within the skin. This youth-promoting tool magnifies the benefits of key anti-aging ingredients making absorption easier while enhancing overall skincare performance–it’s basically a game changer.

Foreo Luna 2 Cleansing Brush: Although this is called a cleansing brush and while it has silicone bristles that effectively clean the skin, the “reverse side uses lower-frequency pulsations to visibly reduce forehead wrinkles, fine lines around the eyes and mouth, and leave the skin looking firm and lifted. The anti-aging mode of the LUNA 2  also improves the absorption of your favorite skincare products.” After I cleanse, I add my True Botanicals Cellular Repair Serum to my face, then use this little contraption to massage it into my skin.

Anti-aging Skincare Regimen: Anti-aging Moisturizers

Inventive Eco Organic Antioxidant Infusion Balm: This is another favorite in the Inventive Eco Organic skincare line. This antioxidant balm is chock full of nut butters, ozonated oils, vitamins, and herbal extracts and is super moisturizing. This balm can be used both on the face and even the eye area, and it’s one of my faves.

True Botanicals Pure Radiance Oil: I mix this moisturizing oil with my serum and antioxidant booster and apply it all together. It helps to reduce signs of aging and sun damage, and it replaces traditional face cream and moisturizer.

Anti-aging Skincare Regimen: Anti-aging Makeup/Sunscreen

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream: I just got this, and this is a game changer! It provides near-perfect full coverage (or it at least provides really great coverage), and has a built-in Anti-Aging Hydrating Serum as well as SPF 50+ UVA/UVB Broad Spectrum Physical Sunscreen, which is incredibly important if you’re exfoliating and introducing a lot of newer skin cells to the top layer of your skin.

bareMinerals Matte Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15This is my go-to powder, I like that it provides nearly full coverage, it doesn’t clog pores, and it has SPF 15 built-in thanks to the minerals.  It has a matte finish, and is perfect for day and night,  I prefer to wear foundation or creamy formulas in the fall/winter, and powder foundation like this one in the spring/summer.

I know there’s a ton of anti-aging skincare products out there, but these are the ones that I’m personally using for my anti-aging skincare regimen.  Many of these products have been recommended to me by estheticians, dermatologists, or they’re products that I’ve read about in Allure’s Reader’s Choice Awards issues.  If there are any anti-aging skincare products that you use and live by, please leave me a comment and let me know, I’m always on the lookout for new products to try and recommend, and of course it helps when it’s a recommendation from someone for whom it’s already worked!
