If you’re looking to plan a sunny Miami weekend getaway and are looking for the perfect spot that combines luxe accomodations, chic decor, prime location (but not quite in the hustle and bustle of  South Beach), and a storied past with a glittering list of names including Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor and Winston Churchill, then the Four Seasons at the Surf Club will be the perfect stay for you.

Entrance to Four Seasons Surf Club

Located in the town of Surfside just north of electric South Beach, The Surf Club first opened its doors on New Year’s Eve 1930 as an exclusive members-only club.  It stayed that way for close to 90 years, then closed it’s doors in 2013. Four years later, Four Seasons Hotel at the Surf Club, Surfside, Florida, reignited the spark that once was by brining back the glam and reintroducing travelers to this legendary gem.

The hotel contains two pools, which makes it perfect for both a couples getaway and a comfortable stay for families. Three 12-story towers surround the original structure that include the lobby, Champagne Bar, and Le Sirenuse restaurant (more on that below), and house 77 luxury guest rooms and 119 Private Residences. For these, minimalist designer Joseph Dirand designed beautifully sleek and airy interiors full of light and fantastic views–especially the ocean-front rooms.

Dining at Four Seasons at the Surf Club

One of the other highlights of a stay at Four Seasons at the Surf Club is their incredible dining venues. Four Seasons Surf Club brings the glitz and glam of The Surf Club’s early years. While you wait for your table, enjoy some of the best cocktails in the Miami area while indulging and passing away the time at The Champagne Bar, with Miami’s largest selection of champagne and beautiful cocktails. It’s housed in the room that was once the famous ballroom where some of the 20th century’s most famous and important people partied.

While hanging out at the beach or by the pool, make sure to stop by Winston’s On The Beach for the perfect afternoon lunch. This ocean front stunner celebrates the sea’s bounty with some of the best seafood you’ll enjoy in Miami, including the best salad I’ve ever had–a caesar salad made with tun instead of sardines.  Enjoy that along with some pizza and rosé, and you’ll have one of the most enjoyable afternoons of your life.
