When you need a staycation in Austin, one of my favorite options to turn to is a fabulous spacation at the Lake Austin Spa & Resort. A few girlfriends and I were treated to two fabulous nights at the all-inclusive luxury spa resort that’s located in the Texas Hill country right on Lake Austin, and it was the best way to recharge!
The resort spa has been ranked the #1 Resort in Texas & the Southwest by Condé Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards, and offers all-inclusive resort packages, such as fabulous accommodations, healthy and delicious gourmet meals daily, access to all fitness activities, and special programs and events (Gail Simmons of Top Chef recently taught a cooking class there!). You can also complement your stay by choosing from over 100 relaxing spa treatments and personal instruction sessions.
They’re celebrating their 20th anniversary, and the 40-room resort is offering new programs and services. They’re offering 20 new spa treatments, with a focus on energy work, organic skin care lines, water immersion therapies and oxygen facials. Services include a Weekend Warrior Massage, Neroli Blossom Sensory Massage, Floating Meditation and the LakeHouse Oxygen Facial (afterwards my face was glowing and I swear I couldn’t see the fine lines and wrinkles on my forehead!).
They’re also offering a new Luxury Day Spa Package, which includes pickup via a luxe water taxi from a marina close to downtown, Loop 360 Bridge Boat Ramp near Westlake or from private residences along Lake Austin that have water access (talk about first class service!). You are greeted at the Lake Austin Spa & Resort dock with complimentary Prosecco upon arrival, and you’ll enjoy a gourmet lunch, a floating meditation class, one 50-minute signature body treatment, one 50-minute signature facial, plus gratuities and a private car service back to downtown/your car at the end of the day to complete the ultimate five-star spa experience.
The spa has a wonderful cafe and a private pool that can be accessed by day guests getting a treatment, or guests that are staying at the spa resort. We opted to have a healthy lunch at the colorful Aster Cafe, where we all talked about our fabulous treatments we had just enjoyed.
Later in the afternoon we were treated to an incredible floating meditation session inside the pool barn. This guided meditation lasted about 30 minutes, and it was totally soothing and rejuvenating. I love that you can participate in as many or as little activities you want throughout the day, and you can wear your comfy robe anywhere you want–even in the dining area! Working on your laptop is discouraged in the common areas, as people typically go there to disconnect and relax, however all the rooms are equipped with wi-fi so you can get all the work you want done in the privacy of your room 😉
Being right on Lake Austin has its advantages–there are so many fun water activities you can get into, plus their stunning pool overlooks the lake. My favorite new addition to their water sports arsenal is the Hobie water sport apparatus, they have provided the property with six, twelve-foot long leg powered stand up boards. The resort is the first destination to have them in the US, and the boards act like a stand up paddleboard/stairmaster mix, so you can focus on cardio, core stability and leg strength, plus–it’s like walking on the water! Make sure to check out the video at the end of this post to check it out 😉
They have everything from kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and aqua bikes, to a boat that’s used for sunset cruises. The pool is pretty big and is great for swimming laps or for just lounging in the afternoon sun.
It’s no surprise that one of my favorite aspects of the spa resort was their amazing organic garden that they had on the grounds. They grow all sorts of veggies and herbs that they use for the delicious food that they prepare fresh daily. Their menu changes seasonally and of course they are happy to accommodate those with dietary restrictions.
Each dish is (generously) portion controlled, but there’s no limit to the amount of food you can order. They do serve wine at an additional fee, but I feel that’s more than reasonable considering everything else that’s included in your stay. For those who want to lay low and further relax, room service can be ordered as well so you can enjoy the food in your room.
All in all I was incredibly impressed with the Lake Austin Spa & Resort, our experience was the ultimate spacation and girls’ getaway. I’d love to visit with you about any special offers they may have going on, and to help you plan the ultimate spa getaway, whether it’s for the day or for an overnight stay.
